TED: Sixth sense technology

This post is for all the geeks. All of you must be well aware of Microsoft Surface. Those who are not, take a look:
Microsoft Surface is a revolutionary multi-touch computer that responds to natural hand gestures and real-world objects, helping people interact with digital content in a simple and intuitive way. With a large, horizontal user interface, Surface offers a unique gathering place where multiple users can collaboratively and simultaneously interact with data and each other.
That's all about surface - A big expensive chunk of metal that acts as a surface for you to do stuff after spending million bucks.
But what if you can create the surface effect on any surface (say your hand) available and that too in just $350??
Yes that's true and it is called Sixth sense, though a misnomer.

Basically, Sixth Sense is a mini-projector coupled with a camera and a cellphone—which acts as the computer and your connection to the Cloud, all the information stored on the web. Sixth Sense can also obey hand gestures, like in the movie Minority Report.

Some Snippets

1. You can click the pictures of whatever you see by your iconic hand gestures and possibly view them on any wall by projecting them, organise them, resize them etc. by natural hand gestures.

2. The device is completely portable, you can even use your hand as a surface and the whole device dont cost you more than your current cell phone rate.

3. It gives relevant information of whatever is in front of you. It helps you buy things based on your personal preferences.

4. In a bookstore, it can help to project the reviews and amazon ratings on the book itself.

5. You can get the latest video anotations that are projected on the newspaper you are reading. You can even get the latest score updates.

6. You can even view the word cloud of the person you are interacting with and that too on his clothes - a bit controversial though.

7. Knowing time is as simple as drawing a circle on your wrist.

8. What else? Go watch out yourself. And yeah its all done by an Indian, So cheers!
