Nexus S - A Look At Its Specifications And Features
The Nexus S is the latest offering from Google. Its an Android phone that follows on from the Nexus One, which came under some fire for appearing to be a phone that appealed more to developers than users. It seems, though, that Google has taken a more realistic approach to the Nexus S in order to make it more user friendly and give it more reach than the Nexus One. On the face of it, it boasts some spectacularly advanced capabilities, but does it make the grade?
The hardware of the Nexus S is very attractive at first glance. Its very glossy and has an unusual shape when compared with all the other smartphones it has a curvy, concave screen that fits well against your face when youre on the phone. The volume control is found to the left of the phone and the on/off function to the right, both of which are fine but the headphone jack below has received a mixed response. The plastic of the body also feels cheap, which lets it down.
The Nexus S also packs a lot of technology into its small frame. At less than half an inch thick and with a 1GHz Hummingbird CPU, it offers great performance prospects. The 16Gb of storage is also an appealing feature and the WiFi capabilities are also a good draw. However, the quality of the 800x480 pixel Super AMOLED display looks a little bit yellow and the arrangement of the touchscreen means you find yourself opening up menus you didnt ask for.
One of the biggest draws of the Nexus S is the call quality, where some reviewers have been saying it far outstrips the iPhone in terms of its signal capabilities. The call quality isnt affected by a crowded room and both the earpiece and speakerphone options are loud, clear and generally very good. While the WiFi speeds are good, theres definitely room for improvement on this front as currently they do let the phone down a bit in terms of its connectivity, which is otherwise brilliant.
The Nexus S has received an upgrade in terms of its user interface and software when compared with the Nexus One. This is more than welcome but there are still issues to work on. The screen of the phone feels a bit cramped and while efforts have been made to improve the onscreen QWERTY keyboard, the iPhone still beats it in this regard. However, its now much easier to access the task manager function and the display is very sophisticated and streamlined. This is, generally, a good showing for Google.

Is The Xperia Play Worth Buying?
Theres been a lot of buzz around the much-anticipated PlayStation smartphone, the Xperia Play. Is it as good as people have hoped? We take a look at it. Generally, this is a pretty good phone with excellent viewing angles and an all-round good color performance that displays deep, bold colors. One area that does let it down slightly is its bulk. While it wears it well and it was perhaps inevitable as a gaming phone that it would weigh a bit, it is noticeable when youre using it.
The hardware of the phone is pretty good. Most of the front of it is taken up by the screen, which means its fairly sparse. As with most Android phones, it boasts the tried and tested feature of 4 keys to control the main functions, which is good. However, when youre trying to watch a movie on the phone, the headphone port near the top gets in the way. Also on the negative side, the power button is in a fiddly location. Hopefully future models will fix this.
The Xperia Play also benefits from the most up-to-date technology there is, but its performance is sadly a little lacking. It currently has a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, which isnt bad but a dual-core chipset powering it would be better. Its also a little odd for a specialized gaming phone that, at its launch, the Xperia Play is not as sophisticated in its gaming capabilities as the iPhone 4. This is because the range of games compatible with it is currently fairly limited.
In terms of the gaming itself, this is largely operated by dual touchpads in the centre of the device. These arent bad but cant make up for the lack of a joystick. Its also hard to use the phone properly when the gaming controls are open, but these controls serve their purpose well. The plastic control keys are robust and there is good control over the cursor when entering text. A slight foible is that the home screen doesnt perform the same as other menus when using the phone horizontally.
The Xperia Play also has good software overall. In particular, the pinch widgets view, which allows you to see all of your open applications simultaneously is a very good feature although the social media update display is slightly weak. The music player is simple yet sophisticated and the phone has good video and voice quality as well as an intuitive messaging keyboard. In conclusion, wed hope the phones issues will be ironed out by later models as it has very good potential.

Xperia X10 Mini Pro Review
Mini but mighty is the focus of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Pro. Sony Ericsson figured that among the masses of large screen cell phones, there is an opportunity for a compact and powerful one.
Just one month before the release of the X10 Mini Pro, Sony Ericsson introduced the Xperia X10 Mini, an almost identical smartphone. The two smartphones are internally identical and the main difference is the additional slide out keyboard on the Mini Pro. Both the smartphones are running the Android operating system and they have the same 600 mhz Qualcomm processor. The initial operating system in the Xperia X10 Mini Pro is the Android 1.6 OS. It is however, upgradable to the newer Android 2.1 OS. The upgrade in the Android OS brings about pleasant improvements such as a better virtual keyboard and HTML 5 browsing capabilities.
With the release of the Xperia X10 Mini Pro, a common question roamed the minds of interested buyers. Why should I get the Xperia X10 Mini when the Xperia X10 Mini Pro comes with an additional slide out keyboard? The slight difference in thickness of the two phones measures 2mm, a figure that doesnt seem to make a difference.
As far as we are concerned, the QWERTY keyboard is a fantastic addition to the cell phone. Executives who are often on the go will be thankful, as the keys are well positioned and spaced, hence resulting in quick and efficient typing. Sony Ericsson probably noticed that virtual keyboards dont work well with smaller screen cell phones.
The Xperia X10 Mini Pro comes with the visually appealing Xperia experience. This includes the lively 3D interface and the mobile social network partner, Timescape. The trademark UI by Sony Ericsson constantly collect updates from multiple social networks and display them on an attractive timeline. Social profile integration with the address book serves as yet another convenient feature. Need entertainment? Sony Ericssons PlayNow mobile store sells music tracks, games and applications.
As for the multimedia capabilities of the Xperia X10 Mini Pro, we have already highlighted the beautiful gallery. On the other hand, the 5 MP camera provides quality pictures in solid resolution (2560x1920 pixels). It also comes with autofocus, LED flash, camera modes and video recording (640x480 pixels). You will be able to pick between auto, macro, twilight or sports mode when snapping pictures. The noise isolation handsfree kit also delivers great clarity and bass when listening to music.
Plenty of negative feedback have been heard about smaller touchscreen smartphones. It has, however, been a great experience with the Xperia X10 Mini Pro. Navigation has been a breeze and you shouldnt expect to meet with difficulties such as small virtual buttons. One considerable downside is the lack of compatibility with a couple of Android applications, due to the slightly lower resolution display. On the other hand, the upside is the QWERTY keyboard. The precise keyboard facilitates accurate typing for people with larger fingers. This reduces the need for usage of the onscreen virtual keyboard.
For those of you who are particular about the size of your cell phones, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Pro will be a great choice. It comes with full smartphone capabilities and an affordable price tag!

3. Tend not to limit yourself to a couple of big shops. Sometimes, small retail shops hold a sale and since they tend not to appeal to most people, you won't be competing with a lot of people when these sales are on.
4. Online browsing and shopping remains the strategy to use since you also really end up getting cheaper deals most of the time. Online costs are lower since you also tend not to must pay dealer fees.

3. Always have a plan where you are given a competitive amount of free minutes for calls. At least 150 minutes is a safe number, but it will always rely on how often you use your cell phone for calls. Monitor your usage and then adjust your plan once you are more definite about it.
Information On The HTC Mozart 7
Microsoft has made several forays into the world of smartphones with their range of Windows 7 phones. One of these is the HTC Mozart 7, largely thought to be the most successful of the bunch. Well, is it? One of the obvious draws is the camera, which comes with 8 megapixels and Xenon flash, compared with 5 megapixels and an LED flash on the other Windows phone offerings. This sounds impressive, but while the pictures are good, theyre a little soft and maybe not as good as youd hope.
There are some good apps to be had on the Mozart 7. Microsofts launch partners HTC have their app, the Hub on there. This is limited but still manages to be interesting and there are other offerings on the phone. Notes, Converter, Stocks and the other basic apps all work well; although its widely thought that network-specific apps are a bit of a letdown as they were released too early. The Photo Enhancer is good, though, for applying filters to pictures.
The hardware on the HTC Mozart 7 is generally excellent. Key features include 8GB of storage capacity and an overall attractive appearance. There are volume, power and camera buttons built into the casing, and they are good for easy access to key features. Theres an LED indicator and a shiny grill that forms the earpiece, which is a nice touch. The side edges are quite sharp, however, which is distracting and uncomfortable when using the phone for any great length of time.
The battery life on this phone is around 7 to 8 hours with fairly heavy usage, which is about standard for a smartphone. Another plus is the attractive and stylish feature thats made of the back of the phone. There are, however, a couple of qualms with the hardware. The design of the camera lens means that it traps lint as it is sunk back below the rubber rim, although this does prevent the glass from damage. The positioning of the volume rocker isnt ideal for left-handed people.
Overall, while there are a few issues with the HTC Mozart 7, this doesnt stop it being the most stylish phone in its range. Major disappointments include the quality of the earphones and the camera, especially as this has been billed as a positive of the phone. However, the 3.7 inch screen makes it pocket friendly, especially when compared to the 4.3 inch HD7. Also, both the HTC apps at Microsofts operating system run well on the phone and it has great build quality.
What You Need To Know About The Google Nexus
It was inevitable, as smartphones become more and more popular, that sooner or later Google would get in on the act. Theyve recently released the Google Nexus, but how does it stand up against the competition? Well, its built by HTC who are known for their good quality, so thats a plus. The phone also looks lovely and boasts a 3.7inch display. Its also streamline and light, meaning it easily holds its own in that department against the iPhone and others.
Another good feature is the display, which is stunning. The 480 x 800 resolution is high, although given the size of the screen, youd expect this to be somewhat higher. This is mainly an issue on apps such as Gmail, where the lack of pixels is slightly detrimental but overall its not a major issue. The touchscreen is excellent and thought to be as good as or better than other phones with similar specifications. The fact that some colors are oversaturated is the biggest display drawback.
The camera tends to be an area of weakness on smartphones, but the Google Nexus camera is surprisingly good. It has a 5 megapixel lens, a good flash, and Google have worked to increase the speed of the camera app (although this could still be improved). The camera takes good, detailed pictures and most of the issues associated with other HTC models have been eradicated. The lens focuses really quickly and generally the pictures come out as you hope they will.
Where the Nexus isnt quite as good as you would hope, though, is in its telephony capabilities. Its fairly comparable to most other phones, but more was expected from it. The quality of the speakerphone is quite tinny and could definitely be improved, so its not ideal for prolonged use. The earpiece is fairly standard compared to other phones and is clear and loud while youre speaking but it could be more even. There are also connectivity issues similar to those with the iPhone, so the signal drops occasionally.
In terms of the software, the Google Nexus is fairly similar to other Droid operated phones, but there are some upgrades. The most obvious of these is in the homescreen navigation, which is much simpler than it was on previous versions of Android phones and includes some cute graphics. Theres also an improved gallery option for storing photos, which is excellent, although the phones keyboard is a bit clumsy. Overall, this is a good phone but with a few glitches that should be worked out in subsequent models.
The HTC HD7 : An Overview Of Its Specifications And Features
Windows Phone 7 is revolutionizing the cell phone industry and the HTC HD7 is in a great position to take advantage of all of the features built into that operating system. One of the first things you notice about the HD7 is its size. This phone measures 4.3 inches, making it one of the largest phones of its class. The size is well used though, as it's used to sport a huge, first class touchscreen.
Aside from its physical presence, this phone has a lot of built in memory. While other phones require an upgrade or a memory card, this phone out of the box has 16 GB available. If that is not enough however, too bad. There are no slots for additional memory cards. As mentioned, the phone itself is quite large too. The 4.3 inch display area is an LCD panel and many raise concern over the quality of this screen, preferring perhaps the OLED screens on some of the other smartphones. When it comes to viewing ease with this big display however, this phone has one other great feature in a kick-stand just like your old bicycle. Just prop it up, sit back and watch some movies.
The HD7 achilles heel will be its battery life. This phone is large and the screen will use a lot of power from the 3.7V 1,230 mAh battery. A larger battery might help but on a phone this size a larger battery would certainly add some unwanted weight. The HD7 is rated for 6.5 hours of talk time which falls behind many phones in its class that can boast a talk time of over 7 hours. HTCs own Legend is one phone that happens to dominate the market in this respect with a talk time of 12.75 hours.
The 5 mega-pixel camera on the HD7 is a good quality and performs as a camcorder for 720p HD video recording. Photo critics may have something to say about the photographic quality of still images which tend to come out blurry and have a problem with color accuracy. The problems with fuzzy pictures may lie in the less than positive feel of the shutter button which can cause a bit of lag in the shutter.
Many will find that the HTC HD7 is a solid piece of smartphone technology that builds only slightly on its predecessor, the HD2, which ran Windows Mobile 6.5. With Windows Phone 7 and its large 4.3 inch display, the HD7 is a highly ranked handset with lots of great features. If the camera element of your smartphone is an important item, you may want to pay special attention to this phone before making a purchase. Also, remember that longer battery life may be available from other manufacturers, but when it comes to memory, size and overall performance the HD 7 is a first class phone.

After the Storm came the Storm 2, with fuller features and more memory and the Storm 3 is said to have even more memory, as well as an upgraded camera. All indications are that the size and weight will be about the same as the Storm 2 with its 3.25 touch-screen, but there are rumors (and images on the web) suggesting that the new Storm 3 will utilize a larger 3.7 screen.
At time of this writing the Storm 3 has not yet been released so it is difficult to make a detailed comparison, but initial reports indicate that the storm may be smaller and lighter than previous Torch models, and will likely be on par with the current Storm 2 model. As with the Storm 2, the Storm 3 will undoubtedly have a virtual keyboard. The Torch 9800 utilizes a slide out QWERTY keypad as well as a virtual keypad.
The Storm 3 will be a world edition smartphone that can be utilized across a range of networks. They will retain 802.11 Wi-Fi technology, which will allow users to surf the web wherever a hotspot exists. The Storm 3 will likely employ 4G capabilities, something that its predecessors the Storm and Storm 2 have not done. Both of the previous models are 3G compatible only. There may also be a chance that the new Storm 3 will function as a mobile hotspot, allowing other devices to connect to it and obtain Internet access.
Blackberry OS 6.0 may remain the standard operating system for the Storm units and the Torch, but there are suggestions that a Blackberry OS 7.0 may be introduced. Whatever the operating system no alternative operating systems will likely be offered for these phones. The OS will be customized to fit the specific features of the Storm units. A native webkit from Research in Motion will likely be utilized in the Storm 3, which is considered one of the best editions of web enabling software. The Storm 3 will likely offer an upgraded camera in a 5 mega-pixel version. There is also talk that this camera may actually be as powerful as an 8 mega-pixel version.
Without the new release a detailed comparison is difficult to make at this time, however the features of the Storm 2 should be enough to get Torch 9800 users on board for an upgrade, and it may be wise to hold out for the release of Blackberrys Storm 3.
